This paper compares the evolution of the localisation of global city employments in two global cities – classified as A+ world cities in Taylor’s (2012) classification - Sydney and Paris between 1996 and 2011. Our aim is to determine if the trend is towards the decentralization of global city employments in suburban centres of employment or to the contrary towards the reinforcement of the role of city centres in the global economy. Furthermore, we determine if global city jobs are growing at the same rate in each city and analyze  how this growth (or decrease) translates spatially in each context between 1996 and 2011.
