Cities are surely modernity’s greatest artefact.  The contemporary global urban system is stark testament to humanity’s planetary shaping prowess.   However, the trajectory of urbanisation, and more particularly the political economy driving it, may be endangering the human species and our ability to shape history.   Does the advent of an urban age hearken the ending of the Anthropocene?
