Cities in postcolonial contexts such as Australia are rarely thought of as legitimately Indigenous places, either in popular discourse or in urban practice. This panel discussion session will open up debates about the conceptual, empirical and practical tools geographers need to rethink and recognise cities as places replete with Indigenous presence and what that means for urban policy and practice.
Session format: panel discussion with 4 invited panellists (Dr Libby Porter, Monash University; Dr Janice Barry, University of Manitoba; Ass/Prof Richie Howitt, Macquarie University; Professor Louise Johnson, Deakin University)
