The Women and Gender Geographies Research Network is a newly established group of New Zealand based researchers open to all persons interested in discussing gendered issues related to our research, teaching and personal lives. In this session, we hope to create a collegial space to discuss topics that aim to support each other in our research, teaching and academic development. Potential topics include: finding and maintaining peer mentorships, managing gender imbalances in our departments, establishing collaborative research networks, strategies for discussing gendered topics in the classroom/meeting room, prioritizing relationships and care duties, promoting women and gendered research in our departments. This session will comprise of a small panel who will briefly introduce to the topic(s). The majority of time in this session is allocated to providing the space to have an honest, open, and supportive conversation among the panel and all other participants in the session. Please submit topics you wish to discuss in this session to Annie Bartos, a.bartos@auckland.ac.nz.
Format: Short panel followed by roundtable discussion
